1969 Prince of Wales Investiture Chair +

INVESTITURE CHAIR, 1969. This chair was designed by Princess Margaret’s husband, Lord Snowden, in 1969 for the Investiture of Prince Charles as Prince of Wales. This chair was used to seat one of the dignitaries at the ceremony in Caernavon Castle. The red chair is 32 inches high, 19 inches wide and 22 inches deep. The Prince of Wales’ feathers are embossed in gold on the front of the chair. The seat is cushioned in red fabric. It is one of 4500 made for the occasion. This one is in almost mint condition with just the slightest of blemishes. It also includes the rare back cushion and a programme containing the events of the day. THIS CHAIR HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY SINCE 1/7/1969 AS TWO OF MY FAMILY WERE INVITED GUESTS ON THE DAY. I HAD ALWAYS HOPE TO GET ANOTHER FOUR TO MAKE A SET OF SIX UNIQUE DINING CHAIRS BUT THEY COME UP FOR SALE SO RARELY THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED. I will add pics ASAP and viewing is welcome here in Livingston. This is a piece of British Royal history and I will not sell to a buyer outside the UK other than to a genuine American collector of British Royalty Memorabilia. I do have another one in similar condition but without the optional back cushion or the program booklet. This may be available if the buyer wants a matching pair. Genuine sale due to downsizing.
